Specialized Search Engines

Most Internet users use the most popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo, or Microsoft’s Live. By using these search engines, you can usually find what you are looking for without problems. However, the question is, would it be possible to find the information you want even faster? Some analysts believe that specialized search engines might be the solution. For example, if you are looking for some historic documents, you might find more relevant results using a search engine specialized in history. On the other hand, if you are interested in sports, you may want to use a sports search engine when you look for any news, or information related to sports. Using a search engine that is focused on politics could help you very easily find topics pertaining to politics. As you see, the idea of specialized search engines sounds great; however, so far we did not see that many of them. Could such search engines become more popular in the next few years? That is a likely possibility because there are many advantages of specialized search engines.

I believe that the biggest selling point of specialized search engines is the lack of irrelevant results. After all, nobody likes to browse though a few pages of results in order to find the site he is interested in. On the other hand, the biggest drawback of specialized search engines is the necessity to switch from one search engine to another whenever you want to search for a different topic.
