Windows XP
Windows XP is a quite old operating system, but it still is very popular and that is why many people are worried about its future. An operating system needs support from its developers in order to be safe from hackers and to work efficiently. Microsoft knows that a great deal of users refuse to switch to Vista, and that is why you do not have to worry, as it seems that Windows XP will be still supported up to 2014. This means you can enjoy a safe operating system, which will be periodically updated if any problems arise. I think this in turn will even further limit the amount of people switching to Vista or Windows 7, since if they can use their old OS without problems, why change anything? Another problem with Vista is that it requires a lot of RAM, as 4GB of RAM is recommended, but in case of Windows XP it is only 2GB. As a matter of fact, many PCs with Windows XP have only 1GB of RAM installed and they are performing quite well. That is why Windows XP remains a good choice for those who have an older computer. On the other hand, Windows 7 is going to appeal to those who just bought a new machine.
